When you call or send text messages from the number, Google assumes that you are still using that phone or service. The Google Voice number cannot receive voice mail or text messages, though it can be used to receive faxes. You can also use the Google Voice number to receive incoming calls and texts as a virtual number.
A Google Voice number can be used for receiving calls from Google Voice itself or from another phone number. However, you can’t make calls to it.
